How to Prepare for a Container Delivery
Getting a shipping container delivered to your property is straightforward — but a little preparation ensures it goes smoothly.
Access Requirements
Our delivery trucks are large. You'll need:
Width — minimum 3 metres clear width for the truck to enterHeight — check for overhanging trees, powerlines, and awnings (4.5m clearance)Length — the truck needs roughly 20 metres of straight run to slide a 20ft container offSurface — firm, level ground. Soft grass or sand can cause issuesTurning — if the truck needs to turn on your property, allow generous turning radiusGround Preparation
Containers should sit on firm, level ground. Options include:
Concrete pad — ideal for permanent placementCompacted gravel — good drainage, cost-effectiveRailway sleepers — elevates the container, prevents moisture contactDirect on ground — acceptable for short-term on hard surfacesAvoid placing containers directly on soft ground — they'll sink unevenly over time.
Do You Need Council Permission?
